Project Highlight: Helideck transport from Dordrecht to Cádiz aboard MV MARIE
Boeckmans recently completed the successful transport of two offshore helidecks from Dordrecht to Cádiz aboard the MV MARIE — a complex project cargo operation executed on a voyage charter basis and developed by Boeckmans Chartering.
Due to their size and on‑deck positioning, the helidecks presented significant operational and technical challenges, with direct impact on visibility, stability and navigational safety. Far from a standard breakbulk shipment, this operation required careful planning, coordination and engineering at every stage.
Boeckmans Chartering acted as project owner, managing the operation from initial fixture through execution, and coordinating closely with internal departments and a wide network of external stakeholders. This included engineering services, supercargo expertise, ship management, operations, IT support, port agencies, pilots, classification society and flag state authorities.
As the cargo restricted bridge sightlines, additional safety measures were implemented, including enhanced bridge support systems and procedural mitigations, fully embedded within the agreed risk framework. In parallel, comprehensive risk assessments, inspections and formal approvals were carried out to ensure full regulatory compliance and a safe departure.
