The Association of Rotterdam Shipbrokers and Agents (Vereniging van Rotterdamse Cargadoors, VRC) was founded in 1969.

However, the history of United Shipbrokers and Agents in Rotterdam dates as far back as 1889. Current membership of the association is about one hundred ship’s agency companies in the Rotterdam port area. They include both independent agencies and owners’ offices and both liner- and tramp-agents. There are also associate members. The shipping companies using the Rotterdam and the shipbrokers and agents who are their local representatives play a vital role in the global freight market.

VRC’s principal aim is to monitor ships’ agents interests in every respect. Much of its work involves keeping the Port of Rotterdam attractive for ships and cargo. This means ensuring a fair balance between price and quality.

VRC is also a lobbying organization.
